the things you say make it fall

it’s probably just because 

oak trees aren’t really planted here

and the leaves are raked each dawn

it might not be like “back home”

but our falls smell like osmanthus

and sound like happy birdsong

so I don’t know why you say

you hate living here (where I am)

and blame it on the seasons
